Dorota Chioma...
Artist exploring the lived terrain of mental health through painting, writing, and immersive visual narratives.
Art, for me, is not expression alone —
it is a way of staying, of returning, of making sense of what resists language.
My work moves between states: tension and stillness, rupture and repair,
presence and disappearance.
Each piece is part of an ongoing mapping —
of the body, the mind, and the space in between.
After years of self-suppression, which was sabotaging my wellbeing, I rediscovered my creativity through art therapy followed by an independent artistic journey.
Art became my medicine without which I wouldn't be able to cope with mental health challenges.
Visual images are often accompanied by words. Both visual art and the art of words help to process life and its events but more importantly they allow to tame demons and deal with trauma.
My artwork explores the varying states concerning the mind and mental health. Engaging in these diverse subjects leads me to reflection, and in turn to a visual representation. Poetry and writing enables to enhance and further process any themes I am working on.
